qSOFA score: 0 points
What this calculator does
The quick SOFA (qSOFA) score screens for sepsis outside the ICU using blood pressure, respiratory rate, and mental status. A score of 2 or more prompts further evaluation and monitoring.
Formula and variables
Displayed formula: qSOFA
The engine evaluates: qSOFA score (points). Variable names match the input field keys so you can trace each step from entry to output.
How to use this tool
1. Open the qSOFA Score and enter your values using the units shown beside each field.
2. Review that inputs are within the typical physiological range before you calculate.
3. Read the result together with the interpretation notes below and your local clinical context.
How to interpret the result
Each criterion contributes one point: systolic BP ≤100 mmHg, respiratory rate ≥22/min, or altered mentation (GCS <15). qSOFA is a screening aid—not a substitute for cultures, lactate, fluids, and source control.
Clinical context
Severity scores guide triage and monitoring frequency. They do not replace clinician judgment, serial exams, or escalation when the patient appears unwell despite a low score.
Limitations and disclaimer
This tool supports education and clinical triage only. It does not replace professional medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. Reference ranges vary by laboratory, age, pregnancy status, and comorbidity. Always confirm critical decisions with institutional protocols and qualified clinicians.
